Paul Bangay and Bagnato Architects transform Moonee Ponds mansion into a design masterpiece

This Moonee Ponds house is proof of what can happen when two creative forces combine their powers.

The combination of Paul Bangay-designed gardens and a renovation by Bagnato Architects has left Glenlee looking like a fairytale castle with a contemporary twist.

Surrounded by manicured hedges, complete with a water feature adorned with topiary, the Gothic-style Queen Anne residence looks just as stately as it would have in 1903.

Thanks to a recent update under the keen eye of Bagnato Architects, those parquetry floors are beautifully offset against the Carrara marble kitchen with its sleek, dark cabinetry.

Original fireplaces, chandeliers and ceiling details pay homage to the property’s heritage, whereas an open-plan connection between the kitchen, dining and lounge zones makes for easy living.

The library, where full-length book shelves decorate the walls, must be a serene spot to relax.

Other highlights include a heated pool, commercial grade outdoor kitchen and hotel-inspired bedrooms.

Alexkarbon Real Estate agent Charles Bongiovanni leads the expressions of interest campaign, which will close on October 16.

Expect to pay between $5.65 million and $6.2 million.

Chateau Belvedere is a fitting title for this European-inspired residence in Perth.

Past the facade with its formal grounds and towering, arch-shaped door, you’ll find an enormous hall with twin staircases to lead you to the second level.

Both storeys have dramatic water views, which can also be enjoyed from the pavilion and pool in the back garden.
