A rare, preserved mid-century home in Melbourne has sold under the hammer for $4.6 million.

Melbourne entered this weekend’s auction market with momentum – last week, it achieved the biggest weekly increase in clearance rate among the capitals.

New Domain data reveals that the Victorian capital recorded above 60 per cent for the first time since April.

The two-story home was called on the market at $4.5 million and eventually sold to a family at $4.6 million.

Built in 1975, the eye-catching abode contains five bedrooms, four bathrooms and a six-car garage.

Wrought-iron gates at the driveway adds instant kerb appeal, with the interiors just as glamorous, including marble floors, mirrored walls, gold curtains and a spiral staircase.

Other standout features include the blue and gold bathtub, the retro-style entertainer’s kitchen, balcony with coastal views and outdoor swimming pool.

Adelaide continues to the busiest buyers’ market in Australia.

Domain data this week reveals that the South Australian capital recorded the highest clearance rate among the capitals at more than 70 per cent.

And on Saturday, a rare office and residential building in Adelaide’s Seaton went on the market for the first time in 59 years, and sold under the hammer for $915,000.

Located at 310-312 Tapleys Hill Road, the property was listed by Ray White Woodville and represented by Jodie Watson.

The opening bid came in at $750,000, with the contest between two bidders.

The ground area also features a shed, seven-space car port, as well as a covered patio and lawn.

Upstairs boasts a spacious home with four bedrooms, and a living and dining area with adjoining kitchen.

Also in Adelaide, a property in the suburb of Beverley sold under the hammer for $505,000.

The 1938 bungalow located at 9A West Street was listed by Ray White Woodville and represented by Alex Ghinis.

According to Pricefinder, the home last sold for $300,000 in 2008, giving the owner a profit of $205,000.

The opening bid came in at $460,000, and after a bid of $495,000 fell short of the reserve price, negotiations began before the property was eventually sold at $505,000.

And in Melbourne on Saturday, a three-bedroom, two-bathroom family home at 21 Bruce Way in Taylors Lakes sold under the hammer on Saturday for $1,008,000.

The property, listed by Barry Plant Taylors Lakes agent Kyle Angeli, had a price guide of $850,000 to $900,000.

According to Pricefinder, it last sold for $595,000 in 2012, giving the owner a profit of $413,000.
