A small town in Poland wants Elon Musk to set up headquarters in their 800-year-old castle.
In recent weeks, rumours have circulated in European media that Elon Musk is thinking about buying a house in the region.
Many of the rumours have focused on Tuscany, where the tech billionaire has been reported to visit on holiday.
Now, Piotr Bujak, the mayor of Glogowek in southern Poland, has invited Musk to buy up the local castle.
“I would like to propose to open your European base in our beautiful Glogowek Castle,” the mayor wrote on X.
“It will be a jewel in our town and would be an impressive showcase of your investments.”
Bujak told the Associated Press that he had seen media reports suggesting that Musk was looking for a sizable property, such as an Italian castle, to use as his European hub.
“The castle has a very good vibe and is a perfect location for great things,” the mayor told the AP.
“We do not feel worse than Tuscany. We have a perfect climate and this is the best place on Earth.”
Musk has not responded to the offer.
Glogowek Castle was first built in the late 1200s, and was inhabited by aristocratic families for nearly 700 years.
After World War II, the castle was taken over by the communist government who used it as a youth hostel.
The castle is in a derelict state after decades of neglect, but offers a huge amount of space and plenty of historic charm. There is even space to land a helicopter.
The town is located close to the Czech border. Several major European capitals – including Berlin, Warsaw, Prague, and Vienna – are located just hours away from the town.
In the letter posted on X, Bujak describes Glogowek as “our Italy”, praising its natural scenery and wineries.
“We also have beautiful lavender fields, like in Tuscany, mountains that you would love to discover during beautiful hiking, and impressive castles like the one in Glogowek,” he wrote.
