It’s named after Australia’s first prime minister, so it’s no surprise that Barton was one of the first Canberra suburbs. Gazetted in 1922, Barton’s historic homes contrast effortlessly with its modern units which have rejuvenated the inner-city precinct.

Within its borders are some of Canberra’s most exclusive and best eateries, sitting alongside luxurious hotels. Only about 1500 people call the suburb home, but a suite of government offices makes it a bustling place throughout the week.
