The former London home of Princess Diana’s stepmother, Countess Raine Spencer, sold just three days after coming onto the market.
The 1980s Georgian-style terrace on Farm Street fetched £10.95 million ($AU21.2 million). The buyer’s identity has not been disclosed.
It’s believed to be the fastest sale in Mayfair this year.
In 1990, Diana’s father, John Spencer, bought the house as a gift for his wife. Diana visited the house frequently in the late 1990s following her divorce from Prince Charles.
Countess Spencer sold the Farm Street house in the early 2000s to a pair of prominent art collectors, Alan and Mary Hobard.
They remained in the house for 22 years, until it sold earlier this month.
Much of the property remains in its original 1980s state, with striped taupe wallpaper and a rich red library – reportedly one of Princess Diana’s favourite rooms.
There are four floors of bedrooms, bathrooms and drawing rooms, connected via an indoor passenger lift.
The home also comes with several patios and terraces for outdoor entertaining, along with a secure underground car park and private garage.
As befitting a royal residence, the terrace also contains separate staff accommodation.
Wetherell and Chestertons brokered the deal. “This is the first time that the Farm Street house has been on the market in 22 years, and it effectively sold in its first week on the market,” said Wetherell agent Robert Dawson in a statement to Robb Report.
