A private island with a five-bedroom mansion has been put on the market for more than $19 million.
The United States island, known as Windermere Estate, sits in St Alban’s Bay in Minnesota, some 30 kilometres west of the city of Minneapolis.
The property was listed last week with an asking price of $US15 million ($19.4 million), becoming the most expensive property for sale in the state, Mansion Global reports.
The island, accessed via a private bridge, spans almost 5550 square metres and offers panoramic views of the bay on Lake Minnetonka.
The four-storey house itself offers almost 1790 square metres of living space and has five bedrooms, nine bathrooms, multiple living and dining areas, a library and one of the state’s largest residential glass-enclosed atriums, the listing notes.
The main bedroom has a massive walk-in wardrobe that’s probably bigger than some studio apartments, a large ensuite, its own sitting area and terrace, as well as a fireplace.
There are six fireplaces throughout the home in total, and the property also features a lift, a 12 person-theatre, a bar lounge, a double wine room and a cigar and poker room. Then, of course, there’s the gift-wrapping room, gym, sauna, indoor spa, relaxation room and an outdoor pool and wharf from which to enjoy the views.
There’s also plenty of space in which to park your wheels, with an underground heated garage for eight cars, with its very own car wash, as well as a terraced “motor court” above.
The island is currently owned by Kam Talebi, the chief executive of Kaskaid Hospitality, which operates fine-dining restaurants in Minneapolis, Mansion Global reports. Records show he bought the property for just more than $US1 million in 2013.
The property is listed with Jessica Prudden, a partner at the Prudden Company.
