Getting into the property market at the moment is feeling near impossible for a lot of Australians, plus it’s causing some buyers to rush their purchase and nab whatever they can, before they know if they even like the neighbourhood.
One option that’s emerged is “rent with the option to buy” – certainly different to how the market usually works. It’s offered by Assemble Communities; and to explain, the managing director Kris Daff joins us on this week’s episode of Property Unpacked.
Kris tells us this all started when, “we had a look at what are some of the barriers to home ownership around Australia and how we might be able to develop some fair housing models”, noting that one of the biggest barriers was saving for a deposit.
Then, we chat about the federal budget and how it impacts the property and housing market, with Domain reporter Kate Burke and Domain deputy news editor Elizabeth Redman, who’ve pored over the budget papers.
