An historic boatshed overlooking the waters of Tasmania has hit the market.

The timber boatshed on Queens Walk in Cornelian Bay, New Town, is selling with a price guide of mid to high $300,000.

While in its original position, the property’s 1930s interior has had a makeover.

The boatshed is powered and boasts a kitchenette with a double-basin sink and a small fridge.

It also has ample storage, a dedicated shower and room for a composting toilet.

One feature it doesn’t have is a bedroom. That’s because it’s for day use only.

So, if a buyer is thinking this boatshed could be a cost-of-living solution – no chance.

Montgomery said all of the boatsheds are unique.

“This one in particular still has a hatch in the floor into the bay, previously used for access to water,” she said.

The property has remained in the same family for generations. The owners are selling for personal reasons.

With its outlook and location being about 10 minutes from Hobart, the boatshed has already attracted much interest.

“We have had a lot of interest from a multitude of buyers, a lot of locals that keep their eye on the market for these rare opportunities, and we’ve also had a lot of interstate interest predominantly from Sydney and Melbourne,” she said.
