Rebel Wilson sells second Gladesville investment pad, pockets more than $880,000

Rebel Wilson has sold her second Gladesville investment property for the year, securing more than $880,000 after a three-week campaign.

It remains unknown if the star of the Pitch Perfect movies recouped the $885,000 she paid for the two-bedroom apartment at the peak of the property boom in 2017 given no comment from Cobden & Hayson’s Peter Gordon, but it carried $880,000-plus hopes before it sold and is expected to have sold above that level.

The apartment was bought in the name of her Camp Sugar production company, which is best known for co-producing last year’s comedy movie The Hustle,  in which Wilson starred alongside Anne Hathaway.

The two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment last traded for $885,000 in 2017.

The sale comes just two months after the Hollywood-based star sold another of her Gladesville apartments in the Bella Apartments complex for $805,000, returning only a small gain on her $740,000 purchase price in 2015 given a $29,000 stamp duty fee.

The well-documented property watcher told Vogue magazine in June 2018 that she “loves property” and developed a passion for interior decorating and custom designing from when she shared a house with fellow actor and interior design buff Matt Lucas.

“I never thought I would even care about that kind of thing, but maybe because I travel so much and work so hard I want my house to be a sanctuary,” she told Vogue.

Earlier this year her skills were enlisted by her sister Liberty Mair to bid on her behalf at the auction of a Birchgrove cottage, which Wilson secured with a $1.36 million bid.

As well as owning  an apartment in New York and a house in the Hollywood Hills, Wilson still owns the waterfront house in Birchgrove she bought six years ago for $3.76 million. She added a two-bedroom townhouse to her portfolio in nearby Balmain’s Parkes Residences in 2018 for $1.88 million.
