The former California home of the 40th President of the United States, Ronald Reagan, has been listed for sale with a US$5 million ($7.2 million) asking price.

Located in Sacramento and known as ‘Reagan Mansion’, the former Commander in Chief and his wife Nancy lived in the stunning abode while he served as the Governor of California.

Reagan’s former Californian digs are everything you’d expect of a man who would go on to become the most powerful individual in the free world.

Built in 1929, the Tudor-style, white-brick mansion is spread over two levels and boasts a generous 650 square metres of internal living space.

The arresting home sits on a block measuring over 2000 square metres, which is set in an idyllic neighbourhood of California’s capital colloquially referred to as ‘The Fab 40s’.

The four-bedroom house was thoroughly refreshed in the early 2000s and features myriad amenities congruent with the home’s lofty seven-figure asking price.

Positives include a wood-clad library, a den, a media room, wine cellar, wet bar, games room, a professional chef’s kitchen with marble islands and a master suite that spans two rooms.

Outside, there’s a charming alfresco area and second kitchen, with the residence’s grounds benefitting from established gardens and manicured lawns.

Interestingly, the Reagan’s never actually owned their Sacramento home – they merely rented it.

We’d be curious to know how much they, or perhaps more accurately, the Californian taxpayer, had to fork out for president nicknamed The Jelly Bean Man and his wife to live in the opulent home.
