3 Creeks Ranch in Texas is, in many ways, an archetypal American ranch. Set outside the small town of Luckenbach, the property has rolling hills, leafy pecan groves, and a generous handful of outbuildings.
But one feature of the 358-hectare estate is garnering attention – its unique collection of animals.
“It’s like a viewing safari,” vendor Susan Price tells the Wall Street Journal.
During their time at the ranch, Susan and her husband Michael Price raised Japanese Akaushi cattle, one of six cattle breeds that are native to Japan.
They also raised blackbuck antelope, native to India and Nepal, and two species of European deer; red stag deer and fallow deer.
If that wasn’t enough, the property was also home to a host of native wildlife, including whitetail deer, axis deer, turkeys, quail, and doves.
For the human inhabitants, the ranch itself has a lot to offer the future owners.
Priced at $US42.5 million ($AU63.1 million), 3 Creeks Ranch is one of the most expensive properties on the market in this pocket of Texas.
Three creeks run through the property, while a further five dams and six ponds ensure there is no shortage of water supply.
The massive 492-square-metre main residence dates to the 1850s. The quaint stone house has large sash windows, wooden beams, a luxurious chef’s kitchen, and a subterranean wine cellar.
There are even exposed log walls for an authentic Little House on the Prairie atmosphere.
Outside, there are an additional two guesthouses, a hunter’s cabin, and a small cottage, many of which also date back to the nineteenth century.
“This blend of historic elegance and modern comfort makes 3 Creeks Ranch not just a sanctuary but a legacy,” the listing says.
