A home for sale in a picturesque seaside English village is being marketed as a tranquil retreat but there is a catch – it reportedly measures just 91 centimetres wide at its smallest point.
The one-bedroom, one-bathroom terraced cottage is located in Porthleven, a fishing port in the county of Cornwall.
According to The Sun, the home was reportedly built in what was once an alleyway between two other properties and measures just 91 centimetres wide at its narrowest point.
The result is a charming, if not quirky design that would not suit anyone who has a fear of confined spaces.
Fittingly known as The Doll’s House, it is being marketed as a “fantastic opportunity for first-time buyers, investors, or those seeking a tranquil retreat by the sea.”
“Utilised as a holiday let by our current clients, one of the standout features of this lovely cottage is the incredible sea views that can be enjoyed from various vantage points within the home,” the listing says.
“Whether you are looking for a permanent residence or a holiday getaway, this well-maintained cottage is sure to impress.
“Don’t miss the chance to own a piece of this charming coastal village, where the beauty of nature meets the warmth of home.”
A floorplan for the home shows entry is via a hallway.
You must then pass through the narrowest point of the home before arriving at the eat-in kitchen, which in turn leads to the home’s only bathroom.
Upstairs you will find a bedroom and living room, which offers sea views.
The cottage house is being sold with a guide of £235,000 (AU$467,000).
The owners reportedly tried to sell the home in 2017, but took it off the market after failing to achieve their desired £250,000 price tag.
Selling agent Tom Reed of Mather Partnership reportedly told The Sun, there had been a “fantastic amount of interest” since the property hit the market, despite its small size, but admitted there was a downside. “You really wouldn’t be able to host a family of four here,” he said.
