Terrace homes in the heart of Braddon are a rare beast, and developer Tom Kasunic saw a gap in the market.

Lumiere caters perfectly for both upsizers and downsizers. The houses are designed to suit young professionals who love being close to the CBD, but might be looking for a bit of space to start a family, or older couples who want the central location, but are used to having a roomy home.

“We wanted to design something that could cater to the downsizer or empty nester, as well as for a younger couple that is potentially looking for room to grow,” Tom says.

“We’ve tried to implement a terrace product close to Braddon, rather than just cramming as many units as possible on the site.”

Residences are more spacious than the standard Braddon offering, with generous living areas and plentiful storage space. Some offer separate living areas and three-car garages.

The three large bedrooms are segregated to maximise privacy. A spacious main bedroom opens onto its own private balcony and features a walk-in wardrobe and large en suite.

An expansive tree fronting the site creates a shady enclosed garden to fit in with the leafy streetscape.

“The intention there was to provide some outdoor space for all the residents to use,” architect Dane Kasunic says.

A moment’s walk from Northbourne Avenue, the homes will be close to the light rail, connecting them easily with Gungahlin and the city centre. And proximity to schools and parkland makes the location ideal for families.

Lumiere also has easy access to some of Canberra’s best shopping and entertainment areas.

“[Braddon] is becoming one of Canberra’s entertainment hubs,” Tom says.

Lock-up garages feature internal entry to the houses via a private staircase.

Kitchens have custom feature joinery, glass splashbacks, stone benchtops and feature lighting. Construction is expected to begin at the end of 2017, with a 12-month build anticipated.
