A home that sets a new standard for refined living has been crowned the winner of the 2024 Northern Territory Home of the Year.
The Housing Industry Association (HIA) Awards program showcases the top builders and designers of the year across a number of categories and regions throughout Australia.
Now, the winner of the NT region has been announced, with the award going to Darwin-based PTM Group.
PTM Group beat out stiff competition from three other finalists to snag the top gong at the HIA-CSR Northern Territory Housing and Kitchen & Bathroom Awards after also picking up the award for Best Custom-Built Home Over $750,000.
It has also won a spot as a finalist in the 2025 HIA Australian People’s Choice Home awards.
According to the judges, the winning home took out the prize for its blend of modernist and tropical design elements to create a serene sanctuary.
“The home impresses with exceptional functionality and flawless craftsmanship throughout,” the judges said.
“Seamless indoor-outdoor integration and thoughtful details enhance the connection to nature, delivering an exceptional living experience.
“From the flowing, airy interiors through to the alfresco and pool area, every part of this home showcases superior construction standards.”
The home was constructed from masonry and has a steel skillion roof.
A tactile raw stone feature provides a striking contrast to the crisp rendered finish of the front elevation, with the overall look of the home both “bold and linear,” according to the judges.
Photos of the one-level home highlight the link between the indoors and outdoors via large windows. Even the soaking tub inside the luxurious bathroom overlooks the tropical landscaped gardens.
Natural tones inside the home also provide a link with nature. The open plan kitchen/dining/living areas are the heart of the award-winning home while the backyard provides an entertainer’s paradise thanks to a sparkling inground pool and a separate alfresco with built-in barbecue that is accessed via stone steppers.
