10 homes you can rent under Canberra’s median of $680 a week

The tail end of 2023 experienced a rise in house rents in Canberra for the first time in more than a year.

Domain’s latest Rent Report released on January 11 revealed the median cost per week to rent a house in the ACT is $680, only $10 lower than the record reached in March 2023. 

This is up from $660 per week from the previous quarter.

According to the report, Canberra tends to see higher rates of growth during the final three months of the year, as vacated rentals are readjusted to market rate.

Despite the jump, Canberra was the only capital city to record lower house rents annually, and it is no longer the most expensive city in which to rent a house (that would be Sydney).
