This week on The Block is a stinker for the teams.

First, an excavator punctures a gas pipe on the site, which spews a foul-smelling vapour and forces an evacuation.

Foreman Keith’s face is screwed up like he’s just copped a whiff of host Scott Cam’s old workman’s socks.

And Tindlering Whitney is still reeling from finding a putrid little present in the toilet of their newly installed master en suite.

Her boyfriend Andrew admitted guilt after an exhaustive “poo done it?” investigation.

Then there is this week’s room reveal – a frightful double mix of guest bedroom and en suite that leaves the under-pressure couples in a yet another fetid, hot mess.

Suzi and Voni were oblivious to the gas drama back at The Blocktagon, chatting about sexy lingerie as they tootle down South Yarra’s Chapel Street during a shopping trip.

Another contestant with lacy unmentionables on his mind is Kingi, who rings wife Caro to report the evacuation, as buff fireman swoop.

After explaining the stressful situation, he pauses and asks, “What are you wearing?”

Caro laughs and the producers cut at this point, so we can only assume she gives a saucy answer that would make even ex-Penthouse Pet Suzi blush.

Whitney and Andrew’s dirty dunny isn’t the only thing about their renovation that is on the nose.

They have ignored all advice and are hanging a rustic branch on string as a wardrobe.

Caro and Kingi are debating decorative cushion metaphysics. “Is six too many? Is two not enough?”

Kingi’s brain is about to explode with all this Friedrich Nietzsche-like talk of the aesthetic principles and ontology of making a bed.

The judges arrive to dish out punishment.

Kingi and Caro are up first and their beautiful wall render and long, horizontal lines have judge Neale Whitaker super excited.

It’s raw, refined, edgy, urban and a little bit industrial, gushes Darren Palmer, throwing up all the Melbourne-isms he can muster.

But they have installed the en suite basin back-to-front and points will be docked.

Whitney and Andrew are next to be critiqued and it takes a moment for the judges to notice The Blair Witch Project twig arrangement dangling behind them. This is Whitney’s idea of hanging space and not surprisingly, they laugh, then slam it.

You half-expect Neale to snap it over his knee in disgust.

The judges also hate a $35 brick that is painted to look like a weathered edition of The Great Gatsby (and probably bought from some overpriced Fitzroy hipster interiors boutique).

Suzi and Voni are third to go under the microscope.

They installed several glass panels, featuring a vista of nearby Fawkner Park, on an entire wall, concealing the en suite and the wardrobe. Darren likes it, but Neale and Shaynna Blaze don’t.

Shaynna serves up the harshest assessment of all by labelling their artistic endeavour “a corporate mural in a reception centre”.

But the Gold Coast gals have only ever had Jupiters Casino for interiors inspiration, so their blunder is understandable.

Ebony and Luke get a hiding from the judges for their pressed tin wall panels and “lifeless” styling.

“This room has no energy,” complains Neale, who delivers the ultimate insult when he says he wouldn’t even want to sleep there. The pillows pose the question “Oui” or “Non”? The verdict is in and it brings Ebony to tears.

Dean and Shay are last to be judged.

Their room is “luxe industrial with a touch of Scandinavian”, explains Scotty. Is that really a thing? Or are we making up trends as the mood strikes?

Darren adores Dean and Shay’s linear extraction grate in the en suite. When just some slits in the ceiling get Darren going, you know they’ve got it in the bag.

The couple win on a score of 27.5, pocketing another $10,000 after their victory last week.

Second is Caro and Kingi, followed by Vonni and Suzi, then Whitney and Andrew, with Ebony and Luke last (for the second consecutive week).
