This week on The Block we learn that nice guys don’t necessarily finish last, and that Suzi and Vonni are good in the bedroom.

We also discover a new decor trend – gentleman’s club. #homeinspo

The Block - week 3 screen grabsSuzi is a hands on renovator.

Tinderlings Whitney and Andrew are struggling to finish their master suite and dressing room, and their baptism of fire at the old Hotel Saville is only heating up.

Their builder is cranky at them for not pulling their weight.

“We’re not the contestants here,” complains Ben the builder, but Whitney is determined that she and Andrew will keep on with what they are doing – which is very little.

There are only a few hours left until judging of master suites and dressing rooms and neither have yet broken a sweat.

Foreman Keith has issue with their lack of gusto, but he’s just as concerned with Kingi and Caro’s rendered concrete nib bedhead.

As a noted man of style, he’s not impressed.

“It’s just stupid, isn’t it – let’s be honest,” Keith says.

Kingi, who has been learning a thing or two about design thanks to cushion arrangement metaphysics last week, doesn’t bother asking what sort of bedhead Keith would find sufficiently stylish.

There is plenty of aggro this week on site.

Dean vows to “go to the death” in a bid to finish, as the clock ticks down.

Keith has a battle of his own to wage.

Andrew and Whitney are the grots of The Blocktagon and Keith is on the war path. Just three days ago, their freshly finished guest bedroom was in a pristine, magazine-worthy state for judging.

Now, it’s a hoarder’s dumping ground for tools, rubbish, mouldy cakes and apples, clothes and unidentifiable horrors. And they appear to be sleeping amongst it.

“I’m tidy – I ain’t got time for that here,” Whitney says, even after Keith gives Andrew a fatherly talking to.

After that grossness, the producers decide they need to give us something easier on the eye.

Suzi is op shopping with Vonni for old books for their master suite shelves, and trust the bikini model to track down the only hot guy working at a Salvos store.

Helping the community is hot.Helping to make a difference.

Suzi flirts and flits about in a Playboy Mansion-style, Hugh Hefner silk robe that she finds on the racks. She manages to nab his phone number (under the pretense of sending him some selfies they took – which is genius Suzi, cheers, more than a few of us will use that technique).

The Block week 3 recapSuzi’s moves. Take note. But oops – is that a wedding ring?

Andrew is missing again from apartment two. Keith hunts him down and warns Andrew that finishing is looking ever more unlikely.

The Tinderling finally straps on a tool belt and suggests some music to his tradies, but all they want to hear is a symphony of power drills.

“Sometimes in your life you have to go a bit harder – this is one of those times,” says Confucius Keith, but Whitney – overwhelmed – capitulates and goes to bed.

You have to give it to Andrew for his positivity. He swears the room just needs finishing touches, as a disarray of raw skirting boards, ceilings without paint, dirty expanses of very expensive carpet and worse stretches before him, with 20 minutes left until the reveal.

There are no blinds, no furniture and seemingly no hope.

But Luke and Ebony have finished their room early and storm to the rescue. Cue feelgood, heroic soundtrack.

Somehow, between the four, they put together the bed, move in furniture, tidy-up and sort-of style. It’s half a room but Whitney and Andrew’s dignity has been restored.

They are weeping with gratitude and stress, and it’s obvious they are in over their heads, with several weeks of renovating left to go. Will the judges be nice?

Kingi and Caro are first to be judged and the nib wall, graffiti artwork and rendering get big ticks. The retro chair and table in the corner is a small quibble for Shaynna Blaze.

Whitney and Andrew are next, and the judges are cruel to be kind.

“They need to pull up their game – it’s a mess,” Shaynna says. But she loves the exposed brickwork, which is possibly just an unfinished wall, so shhh, nobody say anything and pretend it was intentional.

Vonni and Suzi have delivered a “gentleman’s club” master suite, enthuses Neale Whitaker, who says he wants to pour a whisky and kick back on the bed.

The bar fridge in the bedroom is a hit and Darren Palmer says the girls have created a “luxury hotel suite”. From Jupiters Casino gaudy to Playboy Mansion palatial. They’ve lifted their game.

If Luke and Ebony could win for being everyone’s BFF’s they would – but they can’t, so the judges unleash on them yet again.

The weird angles of the room are accentuated by their choice of, well, everything, from side tables to bed head and placement of artwork.

The style of the dressing room doesn’t match the en suite or the bedroom, and there are only a handful positives from there.

There are nasty vibes on site this week because even popular kids Dean and Shay get slammed.

The high school sweethearts cop it from the judges for playing it safe and Shay makes a face that suggests she’d like to throw Neale off the scaff. It is frightening because she’s so calm.

Scores are in and it seems that gentleman’s clubs are so hot right now because Suzi and Vonni bag rare perfect 10s.

Caro and Kingi are second, followed by Dean and Shay, with nice guys Luke and Ebony not last (for once) and the Tinderlings coming up the rear.

Suzi and Vonni keep up the Playboy Mansion theme by partying with some old guy in Kanye West sunglasses. YOLO girls.
