Hallways to heaven, stairways to hell, and public toilet trends.

It’s another day on The Block.

Seven weeks in, teams are triple revealing — halls, laundries and powder rooms (aka the spare toot).

It’s the largest whack of the Port Melbourne renovation so far and, with the pressure on, two teams fail to finish and nick to bed early. The brave sneak a kip with paint brush in hand.

As deadline looms, Geelong lads Andy and Ben are over the moon to hear codgers Dan and Carleen are struggling, given the judges have deemed some of the boys’ previous rooms a bit rubbish, in parts.

“We might deadset ‘Bradbury’ this,” they say, alluding to a come-from-behind victory.

Dream big, boys.

Always stressed Julia and Sasha have a spack attack at Leon, their long-suffering builder. He walks off site … and into the sunset.

“If I pay for something to be done, I expect it to be f—ing done,” Sasha screams, losing her mind over some glue on the floorboards.

They are convinced their hallway walls are warped, and throw in the powder room towel. They deliberately won’t be finishing this week, deciding it’s not worth it if their walls aren’t perfect.

The judges arrive, and to kick it off, the ridiculously good looking, talented couple Karlie and Will deliver three gorgeous rooms.

They pash a lot — because it is a day ending in ‘y’. Their apartment/love life/hair/abs are better than yours. Next.

Earlier, with only 15 minutes until tools down, and Andy and Ben had a to-do list bigger than the beer bellies in the outer at Geelong’s Kardinia Park.

They started the week $1000 in debt.

Ben went decor shopping and declared: “I am going to get the cheapest thing they have”.

But when the judges arrive, they don’t appreciate the fellas’ thriftiness.

Neale Whitaker: “It actually feels horrible”.

Shaynna Blaze: “It feels really cheap and nasty”.

But the guys really couldn’t care less, because they have probably been slaying it on Tinder since they became famous on reality TV, so life’s good.

Dan and Carleen fare much worse, when Shaynna describes their incomplete hallway and study nook as like a “generic hotel”.

A Best Western in a town with no name would score more stars. But remember Dan and Carleen are from Perth, where the Burswood casino is the epitome of #styleinspo.

In Julia and Sasha’s unfinished apartment, which gets rave reviews for its potential, judge Darren Palmer pulls out a measuring thingo to check the walls, which the girls whinged were bowed.

Darren determines that the walls are only 1mm askew. Practically perfect.

“By the look of it, (this week’s reveal) was theirs to lose,” he says.

But more on the nose than any other team is Kim and Chris.

The judges pile on the complaints worse than diners after a dodgy buffet at the Burswood.

“It’s a concrete bunker, you couldn’t go to the toilet in here,” says Shaynna of their tiled toot.

Darren calls it a jail cell, and Neale — who you can’t image has experienced too many Red Rooster dunnies in his life, but still, he’s the expert — says it has a “hint of the public toilet about it”.

Points roll in and Will and Karlie blitz their rivals with a score of 27.5 – and seal it with another kiss – followed by Chris and Kim (21.5), Andy and Ben (21), Julia and Sasha (16.5), and Dan and Carleen (11).

Adrian: Guys congratulations. Second win for you on powder room, laundry and hallway. This is great.

Will: Yeah, it’s always good to win.

Carly: Absolutely huge week. Just trying to laise with all the trades and there was so much going on and a lot of painting.

Adrian: Your favourite part? I mean it’s hard they’re not glamorous rooms but they’re important. All right, they sell places and they’re important for functionality. What do you like about them now that they’re finished?

Will: Well I actually loved the laundry. We actually stole some space from the bathroom. So laundries can be quite boring but we stole that space so people can walk into our laundry and feel like they’re not going to be cluttered. I didn’t realize how pretty a powder room can be, just a little single toilet and a vanity, so.

Carly: I actually love that powder room. Yeah, we’ve got like a beautiful circular mirror and a really cool interesting light and…

Will: That’s Carly’s statement piece. She wanted to use that the whole build.

Carly: Yeah, I’ve been wanting to use it. I found it in a little store Ruby Tuesday and I’ve been wanting to use it what since probably week four.

Adrian: And your hallway feels terrifically open. It feels huge.

Will: We’ve actually stole some space from the laundry and the powder room. You wouldn’t actually know in terms of the width.

Carly: But we wanted to make that a little bit more open just so it feels a bit more grand as you’re walking through.

Adrian: Yes, well you know you’ve got kitchen next week be probably the biggest week I think for most of the teams. What are you going to give us?

Will: Well, considering this week’s massive and we’ve had no sleep we are looking forward to the kitchen but we’re worried also. They call it kitchen hell week.

Carly: And we’re going a bit bold with our kitchen we think. The colour scheme and everything is quite, quite bold. So we’re a little bit nervous that the judges will think it’s a little bit too much but hopefully it ties in with the rest of our apartment and they love it.

Adrian: In terms of making a grand entrance Will and Carly have definitely nailed it this week. The timber flooring, the black feature walls, the stunning lights, have really made a grand welcome to the apartment. The powder room and the laundry are definitely not glamorous parts of a house, however, they are here. People don’t want to do these sorts of activities in a house the tasks involved but in this place I think you’d feel pretty comfortable doing the laundry for half an hour at a time. It’s certainly one of the more glamorous laundries we’ve seen and definitely something that will be an asset come auction day.
