The five teams have slogged it out over three long months on what has been the biggest Block ever, and we’ll soon see if all that hard work will pay off as auction day approaches.
With the houses now complete and only outside areas left to do, Scotty will be yelling “tools down” for the final time next week as teams finish their huge gardens and landscaping.
Here’s a wrap on what we know so far.
The five properties on McGeorge Road, Gisborne, will be auctioned on Saturday, November 5 and will air on Sunday, November 6. You can see it all play out at 7pm on Channel Nine (majority owner of Domain).
All of the properties have the same price guide of $4 million to $4.4 million – some of the highest prices we’ve seen for Block properties and well over Gisborne’s median house price of $1.55 million for similarly sized homes.
Remember, though, each sustainably-designed five-bedroom home is sitting on about four hectares of land and comes with luxury inclusions such as high-end kitchen appliances, heated pools, a dedicated work-from-home space, solar farms and rainwater storage tanks. House 2 even comes with a vineyard.
This year, as in previous years, the team who receives the most points from the room reveals will win the all-important Domain Super Power.
The winning team gets to decide the auction order, and have their property on the front cover of the Domain magazine.
Tom and Sarah-Jane have scored the most wins this season and they are in an unbeatable position on top of the leaderboard, so they’ll be choosing auction order this year.
A $100,000 prize is awarded to whichever team makes the most money on auction day, on top of that profit. All teams get to keep their profit, if any, from the auction.
