News that one team abruptly quit The Block just three days into filming Season 18 sent shockwaves around the building site when it happened.
And it won’t be long until we see it unfold on our screens when The Block returns on August 7 at 7pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.
A new sneak peek teases the team’s departure with footage from the moment The Block host Scott Cam informed the remaining teams what happened.
“I am in total shock. They didn’t say goodbye, they didn’t say thanks for having us, they just left,” he tells the contestants who look stunned.
The clip hints at confusion around the departure with Scotty looking bewildered as he asks producers, “Why would you leave after two days?”.
What makes the situation even more surprising is the fact that it’s never happened before in the show’s previous 17 seasons.
“Australia, the television shock of the year is here,” a voice-over says.
The sneak peek ends with a quick glance at several couples before returning to the moment Scott breaks the news that one team is gone.
“They have left the show,” he says.
This unprecedented departure is just one of many reasons to tune into The Block when Season 18 returns.
In yet another first for the 2022 edition of the renovation show, the series is set in regional Victoria after multiple seasons in the suburbs of Melbourne.
The Block chose a stunning property in Gisborne for teams to renovate homesfor families wishing to make a tree change.
Teams will be making over historic houses with modern extensions on 10 acres of land. We’ve heard these renovations are so epic some will include a tennis court and a winery.
Even Scotty is getting in on the renovation action this year. He will transform the original homestead that was on the property, and just like the contestants will reveal a room each week.
But it won’t be easy, teams will have to contend with the usual renovation dramas on top of nationwide supply and tradie shortages. They will also battle the elements of a chilly and wet Victorian winter, which means lots and lots of mud.
The Block: Tree Change will premiere on Sunday August 7 at 7pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.
