It’s no surprise that Ankur and Sharon have had a tough few weeks on The Block – from builder issues to money woes – they’ve been put through the ringer lately.
The pair contemplated leaving the show after they were hit with the devastating news their budget was $53,000 in the red. To make matters worse, Scott Cam laid down the law and cut them off financially.
That meant their Block credit cards were cancelled and all their renovation decisions needed to go through Scotty and Jo from finance for approval.
But after adjusting to their new norm, the pair had a visit from Scotty for a financial update.
“Whenever we hear Scotty’s coming for a visit, [we] get really anxious. Got PTSD (Post traumatic stress disorder) from the last couple of visits we’ve had,” Sharon told cameras.
Each team was allocated a budget of $18,000 from their rooms this week, except for House 3 who are massively over budget. They had to repay $5,000 to their debts, leaving them with $13,000 for their redo room and guest bedroom.
So it’s no surprise the couple were feeling the pressure when the host paid them a visit.
Scotty pulled out a piece of paper with the couple’s budget, and finally had some good news for the pair.
“It’s a shame it’s week 10, but this is great,” he told them.
“If you can keep this up for the next two or three weeks, you’ll be sweet! I know you don’t like me … but I’d like us to be friends and get you across the line and sell your home.
“This is going to be an incredible home that you can sell and make great money.”
While the pair aren’t in the clear just yet, they admitted they have all the tools to get them over the line this week while paying off their debts.
