The order teams’ houses will go under the hammer at The Block 2022 auctions is now in Tom and Sarah-Jane’s hands after the couple won the Domain Superpower Leaderboard.

The Melbourne pair are thrilled to have the advantage, which is given to the team who has the highest total Room Reveal score overall by the end of the season.

With five room wins to their name at the start of Week 12, Tom and Sarah-Jane knew the superpower was likely to go their way.

“It felt really good [to find out we’d won it]. Getting towards the end of the show we had a bit of an inkling we were going to end up with the power, it was going to be pretty hard to lose our place [at the top of] the leaderboard,” Tom said.

“We’re super lucky to have that opportunity to pick the auction order, it can potentially put us in the best position for [a good result on] auction day.”

After the Work from Home Space Reveals, Tom and Sarah-Jane had 297 points, with Rachel and Ryan in second position with 284.5. That means whatever happens with the Landscaping Reveals, the couple can’t be beaten.

Tom said the superpower is something that everyone on The Block hopes to win because the order of The Block auctions often impacts the results on the day.

He referenced Ronnie and Georgia putting themselves first in the auction order last year only for Mitch and Mark to win with a much higher profit as an example.

“I think once we got told [about the auction order superpower], everybody was like ‘we want this’ because first [in the order] last year didn’t do the best – they still had a great auction outcome – but you just want to put yourself in the best position possible for auction day.”

But the couple wouldn’t have the auction order superpower without impressing judges Shaynna Blaze, Neale Whitaker and Darren Palmer with their beautiful room renovations.

According to Tom, his and Sarah-Jane’s success at Room Reveals is because they did an interiors style they loved and enjoyed the process.

“We were never trying to impress judges or anything, we just went with our style and we had a lot of fun doing it. It just so happened that the style we wanted to do and liked just happened to be totally different to something that’s ever been done on The Block before, so maybe the judges looked at it as refreshing as well,” he said.

We’ll have to wait until The Block auction to find out which order Tom and Sarah-Jane end up going with, but until then the pair have a lot to think about.
