All eyes are on the Domain listings of The Block’s near-completed properties as viewer curiosity grows, buyer interest heightens and the countdown begins to the treechange season’s November 5 auction day.

And which off-grid house has built the biggest following? House 1 is number one by a country mile, with fans logging in for a close look at its spectacular rural estate with distinctive design chutzpah.

The renovation and extension at 191 McGeorge Road, Gisborne, has been the winner of weekly challenges as dynamic competitors Tom and Sarah-Jane have created a contemporary country home with personality.

In second place for most viewed listing is House 3 at 223 McGeorge Road, Gisborne. Gunyah, the biggest dwelling on its four-hectare land, is in the hands of first-time renovators Ankur and Sharon

House 2 at 197 McGeorge Road, Gisborne – the sophisticated Pleasant Lodge property with a poolside outlook to its pinot noir vineyard, by Rachel and Ryan – comes in third.

Stepping up into fourth place is House 5, the five-bedder at 241 McGeorge Road which has been given a modern twist by laid-back mates Omar and Oz, the only team in the competition who are not a couple.

And in fifth place, Dylan and Jenny’s House 4 (225 McGeorge Road), is made for large-scale indoor-outdoor entertaining on a wraparound deck enjoying a Macedon Ranges panorama.

Belle Property agent Natalie Fagan, who is thrilled to have Tom and Sarah-Jane’s listing, says viewers have become more engaged week by week as completed rooms have been revealed. “People keep looking because the photos pull you in,” she says. “The photography and video team have done an outstanding job.”

She says the couple’s design talent had surprised even themselves. “There is a cohesive feel and the colour schemes have warmth and energy. You can see yourself living there. The house is like a hug with a rural backdrop, and the colour palette reflects the surrounding landscape.”

When it comes to auction day, buyers will be won over by the modern edge and high-end inclusions of bathrooms and kitchen at Omar and Oz’s property, Ray White selling agent Aaron Hill says.

Their big advantage is the kitchen appliance package worth $250,000 – from multiple V-Zug ovens to workstation sinks – awarded for a bathroom win early on in the season.

“It’s all upgraded to five-star and absolutely amazing,” the agent says. “Buyers always look more closely at bathrooms and kitchens and they’ve poured all their money into that and the living zone’s upgraded furniture.”
