The Block‘s 2022 winners Omar and Oz have shared a congratulatory message to Steph and Gian after they won big at this year’s Charming Street auction.

The best pals, whose home was also bid on by billionaire Adrian Portelli last year (before being sold to Danny Wallis), said the couple had the “best house of the season” and were elated they won the show.

“What a crazy ride, you guys deserved it. You had the best house on The Block by far, and obviously the girls killed it as well,” Omar said, referring to runners-up Eliza and Liberty.

“Also congratulations to my boy Adrian, keep doing your thing bro, keep making them talk!”

Adrian made a name for himself at Auction Day last year, after getting in a bidding war with Danny Wallis over Omar and Oz’s house.

Adrian started off his first-ever Block bid with $4.5 million on House 5, which was already way over the reserve price. He drove the price up several times but was no match for Block royalty Danny, who eventually won the bidding war.

While some initially labelled Adrian as a “dummy bidder” to drive up the price of the home, the entrepreneur has proved the nay-sayers wrong in more ways than one.

Eventually, Adrian picked up Sharon and Ankur’s house after auction, for a clean $4.25 million.

This year, Adrian spent a total of $12.4 million on three Block homes; Steph and Gian’s, Eliza and Liberty’s and Kyle and Leslie’s.

In fact, his bids made Steph and Gian and Eliza and Liberty instant millionaires, with whopping profits of $1,650,000 and $1,050,000, respectively.

Both Omar and Oz said in separate videos that they wanted an apology from anyone who thought Adrian was a “dummy bidder” during their auction last year.

Speaking about Adrian, Oz said: “This year our boy proved everybody wrong.”

“Not only does he change lives for a living, but he’s a legitimate and successful businessman that wants to make a difference and wants to inspire every Australian.”

Oz also shared some touching words for Steph and Gian, adding: “Just wanted to congratulate Steph and Gian for taking the win.”

“Absolutely stoked for you guys, and the girls from House 5 for coming runners-up.

“Some make it, some don’t, some even passing. That is just the reality of Block auctions.”

Immediately after auction, Adrian silenced any critics once and for all.

“[I] proved I’m no dummy bidder, and that was the goal for today,” he grinned in an interview with 9Entertainment.

“I’m not here to play games,” he said. “Get in a [bidding] war with me… let’s go!”

Adrian said he was aware House 4 was the favourite.

“I knew everyone was going to come out pretty strong, so that was just a big statement piece, bidding a million dollars over the last bid,” he shared.

Adrian also pulled a move that had everyone talking, when he bid against himself – twice.

“Everyone seemed a bit quiet so I just thought I’d have a bit of fun!” he laughed.

And despite going toe-to-toe with investor Danny, Adrian said there were no hard feelings between them. “He’s a good bloke,” Adrian added.
