I’ve always said that the only thing that would get me living outside of Canberra (pre-retirement, because when I retire, I’m definitely going to live by the sea) is a beautiful property in the country.
It should be a property that’s far enough for me to be outside of the hustle and bustle, but not too far that I feel isolated from reality, and one where I can start fresh and create exactly the life I want, with the house and amenities to match.
It doesn’t need to be too big but with cost of living pressures rising, this dream locale must also be affordable, so I’m not scratching features off my list with every extra square metre. And most importantly of all, it needs to be located within a quintessentially wholesome Aussie country town.
Armed with my checklist, I’ve uncovered what might just be the best rural escape I’ve seen in a long while.
Introducing Donohoe’s Estate – a total development of 127 lots of land located within the stunning Hilltops region that ticks all of the boxes.
The first 57 properties have just hit the market as part of the estate’s stage one offering. Ranging from 1250 square metres to 6325 square metres, there’s enough space to build your dream life, and then some.
“Donohoe’s Estate offers a unique combination of idyllic country living and modern amenities, creating an ideal setting for those seeking a tranquil and picturesque lifestyle,” says agent Justin Fleming of Flemings Property Services.
The properties come equipped with all the modern amenities you’d get closer to the city including power, water, natural gas, sewer, NBN, telephone and fencing. What you can’t get in the city are the expansive 360 degree views of rolling countryside.
“The streets are wide and the footpaths are generous in size, not to mention there’s parkland and great shared areas close by,” says Fleming.
“This is really exciting for the town. It’s a substantial but sympathetic extension of the existing township. We’re not just jamming on these new subdivisions; the estate has been thoroughly considered and has been well received by members of the community.”
“Boorowa is a warm and inclusive country town that’s still really active and busy with really great services like a hospital, clubs and restaurants, great coffee shops, schools, community sport and more.
“What we’re hoping to do is build on this reputation but with something that still feels as an estate should” he adds.
Positioned just half an hour from the highway, Donohoe’s Estate is well located between Canberra, Sydney, the coast and the snow.
“It’s accessible, attractive, affordable, well serviced and well located,” says Fleming.
“This is someone’s chance to start from scratch – to have a peaceful country existence coupled with the opportunity and activity in the surrounding community.”
