When Prime Minister Scott Morrison announced the HomeBuilder package, land sales surged in Canberra and the surrounding region as buyers looked to take up the scheme, purchasing land to build a new house.

However, industry bodies expressed concerns about the lack of affordable land available in the capital and that the low stock on the market was being snapped up almost immediately after it lists on the market.

The HomeBuilder package is capped at $750,000 for the cost of land as well as the cost of building a new home and is only available until December 31 for individuals earning less than $125,000 or couples with a combined income less than $200,000.

So, if you’re looking to take advantage of the federal government incentive, we have compiled a list of blocks of land for sale in Canberra and the surrounding region for less than $400,000, leaving buyers with more than $350,000 to build a house under the HomeBuilder threshold.
