You might find yourself California dreamin’ on such a winter’s day when you enter 7 Timbarra Crescent in the prestigious enclave of O’Malley.

But while the five-bedroom, four-bathroom property may make you feel like you’re in the Hollywood Hills, its sprawling outlook over Woden Valley to the Brindabella Range confirms you are, in fact, in Canberra.

Listing agent Sophie Luton from Luton Properties Manuka says that, from the moment you walk in, it’s a home that is nothing short of exceptional.

“If you want to go through a property and literally walk around with your mouth open the entire time, this is the one,” she says.

“From the front corner of the block, right down to the back corner and throughout, everything is just pristine. And the thought that’s gone into the placement of everything – it’s just one of a kind.”

A circular driveway takes you to the main entrance, where concrete columns guide you along a terrace to the front door.

Inside, the formal lounge shares a two-way gas fireplace with the dining or piano room, with direct access to the al fresco space.

A large family and meals area sits alongside a designer kitchen which has integrated appliances, including two fridges, warming drawers, a coffee machine, an induction cooktop and ceiling speakers.

The main suite occupies a private wing, with a large walk-in wardrobe and an en suite with in-floor heating, a heated towel-rail, a free-standing bath and a separate toilet.

Towards the front of the home are four more bedrooms. Two have en suites with underfloor heating, as does the main bathroom and the laundry.

The timeless aesthetic is punctuated by luxury finishes throughout, and it has a thoughtful design that just works.

Outside, you can enjoy an enviable lifestyle. Just off the main living areas is an impressive al fresco entertaining area with a built-in barbecue, two fridges, a television, a vertical garden, fountains, automated blinds, fans and ceiling speakers.

Then there’s a full-sized tennis court with lights and a tennis-ball launcher. Or you can take a dip in the sparkling, solar-heated pool.

Most of the home occupies one level, but tucked underneath, alongside a two-car garage, is a seven-seat cinema room with a surround-sound system and a microwave – “Because you want your popcorn fresh for the movie,” Luton says.

“The home even has a dog washroom with Gucci wallpaper. It’s something you never thought your dog needed until you see it.”

There’s also a second two-car garage near the home’s bedroom wing, plus ample room on the driveway for off-street parking.

Current owner Nicole Damiani says she particularly loves how warm the house always is, even in the depths of Canberra’s winters.

“The way that we get the beautiful afternoon sun and the sunsets, it’s just got that lovely glow in the afternoons,” she says.

“And the outdoor space – we pretty much can use that all year round. It’s sheltered and we can sit out there in the afternoons and it just maximises the Canberra afternoons.

“The pool is positioned where it gets beautiful sun.”

Damiani says she will miss the fully landscaped gardens with automatic irrigation.

“The landscaper who put the garden in really considered all the seasons, so there’s always something in bloom,” she says.

“Even in the six months after we moved into the house, I was still discovering bulbs that came up. I’ve loved that there’s always a flower in bloom in the garden.”

This is a home that works hard, so when you live here, you barely need to lift a finger. Everything from the blinds, lights, heating, cooling and garage doors to the security system, ceiling speakers, front gates and fireplace can be controlled by a touch of your phone, even if you’re not at home.

“It’s all programmed for me so in the morning,” Damiani says. “I hit one button, it turns all the morning lights on, and I hit one button to open all the blinds. And then in the evening, it’s automatically programmed for the garden lights and the al fresco lights and pool lights. They all automatically come on at sunset.

“It’s the easiest house to maintain, just the way the spaces are contained. And it just works. There’s so much storage, everything has a place.

“It is just really easy to live in. It has a really relaxed, lovely sense of being a proper home. It’s not just a show home. It really is a great space.”
