Last week, the Property Council held its annual gala ball and awards night. It was a night to reflect on the year that was and recognise the professionals in the sector who are going above and beyond in their own lives to contribute to building our city.

The president of the Property Council addressing nearly 500 members, reminded us that property professionals must always be cognisant of the role they play in the community and how we might continue to leave a great legacy, contributing to the long-term economic prosperity of our city and the region.

The contribution of the nation’s largest industry to our community is immense – constructing our buildings, delivering infrastructure, creating jobs and providing the homes and the spaces where people can come together and thrive together.

But we must continue to think outside the box to ensure that all Canberrans have access to housing, which is affordable and sustainable at time of unprecedented growth, renewal and transformation of our city.

We must think anew about how we can deliver high-quality design and innovation in all that we do, and bring the whole community with us.

The Property Council comes to these challenges with fresh eyes and renewed energy. We come with a renewed optimism for what can be achieved – if we all work towards the common goal of making Canberra the best city it can be.
