The Star Entertainment Group is launching a brand new high-rise apartment and hotel tower on the Gold Coast.

Sales will begin late this month for residences in a new 53-storey tower on Broadbeach Island, which used to be home to Jupiters casino.

It marks The Star Entertainment Group’s first mixed-use tower on the island since the precinct was rebranded this year.

The gaming and entertainment giant is one of the joint venture partners in the Destination Gold Cost Consortium, together with Far East Consortium and Chow Tai Fook Enterprises.

Incorporating shops and restaurants as well as residences and hotel rooms, the tower will be built next to The Star Gold Coast casino and hotel on the south-east side of the island. Construction of a separate luxury hotel on the site is already underway, and is due for completion before next year’s Commonwealth Games.

Cottee Parker and DBI Design have designed the luxury tower. The one and two-bedroom apartments occupy the top 33 levels of the tower, offering panoramic views of the city and beyond to the ocean and hinterland.

Resident facilities include a recreation deck on level 20 with pool, gym, yoga deck, lounge, private dining and barbecue areas.

About 300 4.5-star hotel rooms will be spread over 13 levels above a podium with new restaurants, cafes, shops and other resort facilities.

The Star Entertainment Group’s Queensland managing director, Geoff Hogg, says it’s the first residential offering of its kind on the Gold Coast.

“It is the first time we have offered the opportunity to live in an apartment as part of The Star Gold Coast’s integrated resort,” Hogg says.

“The tower will take the overall accommodation supply to almost 1400 hotel rooms and apartments, and create a large-scale, premium development that reinforces our confidence in the Gold Coast market and maximises global tourism opportunities.”

Hong Kong-based private investment company Chow Tai Fook enterprises is one of the largest diversified consumer and hospitality companies in Asia.

The executive director of international property developer Far East Consortium, Craig Williams, says the project offers an outstanding opportunity to investors and owner-occupiers seeking premium apartments in the heart of the Gold Coast with world-class amenities on their doorstep.

“The current transformation of the entire site offers an exciting new era of tourism infrastructure for Queensland and we expect the tower will capture attention from local, national and international buyers,” Williams says.

Late last year, The Star Sydney announced the winning design for its proposed Ritz-Carlton casino complex in Pyrmont – a curvaceous high-rise from Sydney-based firm fjmt.
