The weirdest just keeps getting weirder.
A house described as being “built by accident” in 2007 in the middle of a desert has been listed with a sale price of $USD309,000 ($417,000).
Nobody seems to know how it happened — how does a house get built by mistake? — but the property, located in Apple Valley, California, is quite literally in the middle of nowhere. It’s never been occupied and was abandoned by its owner at completion 14 years ago.
Somehow, despite sitting at the edge of the Mojave Desert on 4 hectares of land, someone managed to stumble across the house at some stage: it has been destroyed by vandals.
What possibly could have been a garage is now full of graffiti; inside the house, walls have been ruined and fixtures and fittings ripped out.
The listing reads: “Condition and rehabilitation possibility is unknown. Will not qualify for a loan.”
On a more positive note, the house is still standing, has a tiled roof, concrete floors and a laundry, and boasts very nice views of surrounding mountains and desert landscape.
Apple Valley is about an hour and a half drive from Los Angeles.
