Rain, hail or shine, Australians dream of a backyard pool.
A pool was the most searched property feature on Domain over the past 12 months.
A scan of seasonal buyer search trends shows a pool was number one on buyers’ wish lists through winter, spring, summer and autumn.
The information is reaped from the keywords buyers type into their Domain property listing searches.
“Views” was consistently the second-most searched word, and “waterfront” was in the top three in all seasons except autumn (where it ranked top four), nudged out by, unsurprisingly, “study”.
Although Australian life has been forever changed by COVID and the work-from-home brigade, a home office was not the priority.
And for reasons that a psychologist may like to unpick, “granny”, meaning “granny flats”, slipped into the top ten in autumn.
Sheds were factored in by purchasers in summer and autumn, and duplex – a more compact type of housing growing in popularity due to the spurt of rising house prices and the increase in the cost of trades and materials for a renovation – made an appearance.
If you are selling a home with one of these attributes, the good news is, a buyer will most likely seek you out.
