This luxury home for sale in Minnesota comes with a private island and hovercraft

Located in White Bear Lake, only 30 minutes from Minneapolis, the unique pad is set on a 2.3-acre island the new buyers will proudly call home for the cool price of $9.2 million (US$6.6m).

Current owner, builder Nathan Landucci, bought the original home and island for $1.25 million (US$900,000) for it in 2016, according to Zillow.

The original owners built a home in 1985, enjoying their secluded paradise for 30 years before making a change for Hawaii’s Big Island. Landucci purchased the property, adding four new additions and bumping up the square footage to just under 10,000.

With Landucci’s building background, the home was given a luxury makeover.

The five-bedroom, six-bathroom home now includes a state-of-the-art whole-home audio system, two bars, a professional home theatre with starry ceiling and a league-size racquetball court.

The chef’s kitchen includes top Sub Zero/Wolf appliances and there are multiple entertaining decks across the mansion.

The sale also comes complete with a shore garage, docks and a hovercraft – the only way to or from the island is via boat or hovercraft.

A hovercraft might seem like a showy add on, however, Landucci tells NY Post that it’s an essential inclusion.

“You need the hovercraft to get to shore during the transition period [between winter and spring,” said Landucci, referring to the few weeks when the ice is melting.

For the brave/winter hardy, he also says that the ice is thick enough to drive on and commute by car from January through March.
