The sale of a Toorak mansion has just set a new state record as the most expensive home ever sold in Victoria.

Selling for $26.25 million, a mere five days before Christmas, 9 Towers Road was purchased by a local buyer after competing with seven other local families.

Marshall White company director Marcus Chiminello says the result is “very exciting for Victorian real estate”.

The previous state record of $26 million was held by cliff-top property, Ilyuka, in Portsea, and the Melbourne metropolitan record was $24.1 million for the Smorgon family mansion, 4 Robertson Street, Toorak.

Architect Randal Marsh says the idiosyncratic 9 Towers Road, Toorak will appeal to buyers interested in contemporary architecture.

Hitting the market in October, with a speculated value of more than $30 million, the Toorak property owned by Daniel and Danielle Besen, took seven years and over $20 million to build.

The oval-shaped, four-bedroom property features a library, media room and wine lounge, and has never been lived in.

Daniel and Danielle Besen's stunning Toorak property is raising interest from luxury home buyers around the world.
