Top 4 homes in Canberra and Wamboin to inspect this weekend

September 24, 2021
22 Love Street, Flynn will go to auction on October 9.

There’s no doubt that the past few weeks of lockdown have taken a toll on us all, and yet there’s still so much to feel grateful for.

Last weekend marked a return of in-person inspections, a welcome move for sellers, buyers and agents – many of whom have expressed the importance of being physically present in a home.

In the same vein, among the discomfort of lockdown, many of us have used our hobbies as a way to feel present in the moment. Whether new or rediscovered, we’ve found comfort in baking, building, painting or exercising.

Personally, I’ve taken up making burrata cheese (a deceptively simple, yet incredibly delicious undertaking) and slowly killing the handful of plants that I’ve planted on my tiny porch.

While the cause is almost certainly my horticultural ineptitude, I’m inclined to cast blame on my lack of space – if only I had the sprawling grounds of a Wamboin home or a spacious kitchen like one listed in Flynn.

While our physical worlds may be feeling small, can feel grateful that our homes provide the space to explore our creative, intellectual or physical worlds through our recreational pursuits.

Whether you’re culinarily inclined, a budding ceramicist or enjoy a walk through the countryside, there’s inspiration and excitement to be found in this week’s top pick of homes for sale.

Wamboin

If you’re aching to escape civilisation (almost), then 107 Bingley Way in Wamboin is for you.

Across six hectares of stunning bushland, you’ll find a striking, architecturally designed four-bedroom home, a separate three-bedroom, two-bathroom cottage, a pool, established gardens, a fire pit area, and so much more.

The main home is impressive, to say the least. Prepare for children to squeal with delight as they discover their very own private study or play area, accessed via spiral staircases in two of the bedrooms.

An enormous void with floor to ceiling windows towers over the living area, welcoming streams of light inside and providing the most beautiful of backdrops. Cabin fever is a distant memory here.

A couple of hours outside by the pool or the firepit is sure to fill your cup. A custom-built petanque pitch calls for a couple of games with the family every weekend.

The separate cottage is a perfectly adorable home for extended family, additional rental income or guest accommodation.

Cottage gardens with plants like climbing roses, wisteria and apple trees are the icing on top of this picturesque, homely cake.
