A corner block with a pretty outlook, the address is 100 metres to the local supermarket and pleasingly, there is no council-set time frame under which a home needs to be built, so the buyer has the clock on their side.

Two lots are listed for sub-$25,000. Peaceful French Island in Western Port Bay is where pop star Kylie Minogue long had a holiday home. It is naturally beautifully and quiet, and largely not tourist impacted. It is favoured by those who desire privacy because it is only accessible by boat.
Build a family home at Iron Knob, subject to council clearance. The postcode is on the Eyre Peninsula, an easy drive to shopping in the nearby city of Whyalla. The town has a golf course and lawn bowls club for mum and dad, and parks for youngsters to enjoy. “Secure fast as allotments at this price don’t come often,” the listing says.
Calling bream fisherman. This is the buy for you – a farming-zoned block of land, close to the boat ramp. Building is not allowed, the listing advises, so this would likely be suited as a peaceful private camping spot.
There are not many blocks for sale this near to the water and this cheaply. The listing is in a natural wonderland, at the gateway to the spectacular Gippsland Lakes district.
The vacant block spans more than 1000 square metres in a town in north-west NSW, beside the Barwon River, 800km inland from Coffs Harbour. History is significant, here – it is treasured as the sacred site of ancient Aboriginal fish traps. There used to be a home on the block but not these days. At $15,000, it’s one of the cheapest blocks of land Down Under.

Welcome to the back of Bourke! The property is a block of 880 square metres, with residential zoning, making it suitable for a new home.
Tired of dealing with civilisation? Have a look at this. The level block of vacant land has village zoning and council approval to build is required. The pub is very close. Tick! ” Quiet as, no one will find you,” the very Aussie listing says. “They don’t care much for street signs and house numbers. Zoned RU5 Village, it is okay to build on with council consent. It’s a nine-minute drive to the nearest pub and 80kms back to Condobolin.”
The buyer will need to commence building within 12 months of purchase, the listing advises, at council stipulation. Torrens Creek is in outback tropical North Queensland and, although it is considered a stop on the way to Townsville, the local pub, national parks and wildlife make a worthwhile pause or place to set down roots.
Described as a “cheap and lovely block with well established gum trees and nice rural aspect”, the property is not far to shops, blending convenience and Mother Nature. Tammin is in a central agricultural region of WA.
Coolgardie made headlines for the documentary Hotel Coolgardie, which inspired a 2023 Hollywood film The Royal Hotel, staring Hugo Weaving and Julia Garner. For a family considering the Queensland city of Mount Isa is this parcel, near to the TAFE and high school, and ready for a house to lend character to the street.
You can’t get much in the world of real estate for $10,000, but here it is – a corner block, ready to build on, less than 2km from schools, shopping and the local hospital. Cunnamulla is an inland town, about 750km west of Brisbane.
The small outback town of Jericho is great for star gazing. For home buyers with stars in their eyes but a budget in mind, the block of land in centrally located, on the main road in the town on the Capricorn Highway.
Broken Hill is one Australia’s iconic towns, with a mining history, grand architecture, art galleries and culture. The block with 10-metre street frontage, spanning a long 506 square metres, is in what agents describe as a quiet western part of Broken Hill.
The parcel is in the Blue Ridge Estate and fittingly, has mountain views. Blackwater is a central Queensland coal mining area. For those who value peace and quiet, the property has only one neighbour.

The property, ripe to build on, is near to everything that matters. Walk to schools, the shops and parks, as well as into the heart of Mount Isa’s CBD. Mount Isa is the Gulf Country region and is often a starting point for outback exploring.
Options abound for the buyer of these blocks in the town or Boree Creek, in the Riverina area. The profile of Boree Creek was given as a boost as the former home of Tim Fisher, acting prime minister and diplomat who was the leader of the National Party from 1990 to 1999. Fisher and his family lived there when his father took a job as a jackaroo.
