Who among us hasn’t occasionally entertained the thought of owning a pub – or is it just sitting beside a winter fire with a pint that provokes the fantasy?
Chances are a cosy spot like the 90-year-old Fireside Inn in the heart of Goulburn’s historic precinct could spark the dream.
The Tudor-influenced design is bristling with fireplaces, timber floors and heavy beams, and has faithfully recreated the feel of an English pub.
There’s restaurant seating for 75 people, including large open tables and intimate window and alcove booths. It’s all serviced by a bar, commercial kitchen, walk-in cold room and plenty of storage.
Upstairs, there are two apartments – one with two bedrooms and the other with three. There’s an option to rent both out or live in one or both.
Outside is a large rear deck and three garages with rear lane access.
There’s another space at the front of the building that could be leased as a cafe, with bonus al fresco seating.
Carol James of Carol James Real Estate says there has been interest from a variety of business operators.
“Some have looked at it as an Irish pub, others as a cafe – there’s a lot of potential,” she says.
“Depending on how the space is used, it could offer a number of revenue streams – restaurant, bar, accommodation and so on.”
The property has a current price guide of $1.6 million.
