It seems the President of the United States has one mansion too many. Donald Trump has put his magnificent Caribbean beachfront mansion at Plum Bay in Saint Martin on the market.

Listing agency Sotheby’s International Realty is saying the price is available upon request. But another agency, 7th Heaven Properties, has put a $US28 million ($37.5 million) price tag on Le Chateau des Palmiers.

The 11 bedroom mansion is luxury personified, as you would expect. It’s a gated compound within a gated enclave (so many gates and, yes, 2.4 metre-high walls), and it sits right on the beach.

The property comprises an oceanside villa, a garden villa and a manager’s house. And of course there are all the amenities, including a huge heated swimming pool, a fabulous indoor gym and an open-air version, a tennis court and a whole lot of outdoor entertainment facilities, such as an outdoor bar and alfresco dining areas.

Sotheby’s says the oceanside villa features five king-size bedrooms with full private bathrooms, including a two-storey master suite with a Jacuzzi tub and two private balconies facing the pool and the ocean.

The remaining interior spaces include a fully equipped kitchen, a formal living room, a formal dining room seating 10, and a casual outside dining area and a media room.

The four bedroom garden side villa features the “Jungle Room” with king size-bed and small living room, the “Palm Room” with king-size mahogany bed, and a two-bedroom suite with queen-size beds, a shared living room and cosy dining room.

And of course, you can’t expect a president to cook, so there’s a huge commercial catering kitchen for those special occasions.

But it is believed that Trump has used the tropical refuge mostly as a rental asset since he acquired it in 2013.

Sotheby’s St Martin office says rental packages start at $US6,000 per night in the low season for the smaller of two villas.

But you can expect to pay $US28,000 per night in winter when everyone wants to escape the cold.
