Yes, you are reading it right: this run-down, three-bedroom, two-bathroom character home is looking for offers close to $3 million or more.

If that seems excessive, check the address – this property is one of the last remaining parcels of land on what is arguably Brisbane’s most exclusive location, Hamilton Hill, with uninterrupted city, river and Mount Coot-tha views.

But the icing on the cake is the council approval that’s in place to have the house removed, agent Katherine Pederson said.

The Hamilton property has stunning city views.

“The fact we’ve got council approval to remove the house really opens it up to a whole other market of buyers,” she said.

“It’s quite special – someone has the chance to come in here and build something truly spectacular.”

Plans have already been drawn up for a three-level, 784 square metre masterpiece, at a build cost of approximately $2 million.

Alternatively, there is the option to renovate the existing home, a liveable 1930s stucco character house. The land size is 607 square metres and has dual-street access.

The property is within the Ascot State School catchment.

Sherwood is loved for its character Queenslanders but that won’t put buyers off this new home within walking distance of the Sherwood Arboretum.

Agent Cameron Crouch said the fact it’s been built with its own stunning character features in the popular Hamptons style will ensure its popularity.

“Although it’s brand new, it’s still very in keeping with the style of other character homes in the area,” he said.

“We find the interest in properties like these is still very high because it’s got the character, without the maintenance.”

The spacious Hamptons-style home includes an expansive outdoor living area.

Set over two levels, the house is spacious and undeniably beautiful. Fans of the Hamptons style will appreciate the meticulous attention paid to the details, which include large custom windows, timber detailing and custom designed cabinetry.

The house also strikes a wonderful balance between enough open space and enough intimate living areas, making it perfect for a range of buyers. With four bedrooms, two bathrooms, study with river views and an expansive outdoor entertaining area overlooking a flat grassy yard, it’s practical as well as gorgeous.

Set in a peaceful, leafy part of Sherwood, it’s a short walk from Granville’s cafe precinct and close to a range of prestigious schools.

This iconic Hastings Street position is every bit as incredible as it looks in the photos – and this apartment, located on the ground floor, has got to be one of the best.

Situated in the Fairshore complex only steps away from cafes, restaurants and boutique shopping, this north-facing unit is unique for its layout, agent Shane McCauley said.

The two bedroom unit has been fully renovated, and now includes an ensuite.

The two-bedroom unit has been fully renovated, and now includes an en suite.

“Off the plan these units were all two-bedroom, one-bathroom, however when the owner of this unit renovated, he reconfigured the floor plan to include an en suite,” he said.

“Having two bathrooms makes all the difference.”

As well as the en suite, the rest of the unit has been renovated to a high standard. Beautiful white interiors with white timber-cladded ceilings give it a sophisticated plantation feel, while the clear glass fencing makes sure not an iota of view is left unseen.

Stepping straight out from the outside entertaining terrace is lush green lawn, which leads straight down to Noosa’s Main Beach. Complex facilities include pool, spa, barbecue and games room.

Five children were raised in this two-bedroom workers’ cottage and in one week’s time, they will say goodbye to the home that has been in their family since since 1941.

Agent Roger Carr said the fact that all five of the children have made their own homes in Bulimba as adults is testament to their love of the area.

“They all have wonderful memories of this house and are long-term Bulimba residents entrenched in the community,” he said.

“It will be an emotional auction for them all.”

The tiny cottage is in original condition inside but sits on a large 804 square metre block.

The property is set on a rare 804 square metres of land in a sought-after street. The house, which is thought to be early 1900s, is tiny inside and largely original, with horizontal VJs on the walls and timber floors.

Much of the 1940s-era furniture, like the dressers and robes, still sit inside the house. Built by the children’s father, they’re too large to actually be removed from the house unless they’re broken apart.

“There’s a lot of history here, a lot of love,” Mr Carr said. “Someone will be able to come in here and restore the original property and extend it into something truly spectacular. It’s more than worth it.”
