Looking for a new home? Domain has picked five of the best listings in Melbourne for you to check out this Saturday, June 9.

Hampton

The agent has climbed on the roof of this mid-century solid-brick house at 29 Bridge Street and he has seen the future.

On the high side of the road, the 716-square-metre property is ripe for a redesign with an upper storey that will add family space and views to the water – only 150 metres away – and the city skyline.

“Most buyers want a project and this has the size and the position for it,” he says.

The home is for sale with Stephen Wigley of Hodges Real Estate Sandringham.

Malvern East

A heated pool with waterwall and sun deck, plus new paintwork, carpet and landscaping, is the start of 3 Ash Grove’s refurbishment, making a modern kitchen and family room the next natural upgrade.

It has a kids’ domain upstairs, an evocative inter-war facade and gracious formal rooms featuring natural timbers, leadlight and bay windows, and is close to schools, tram, Ardrie Park and cafes.

Marshall White Stonnington’s John Manton has the listing.

Northcote

Beautifully renovated and styled by its interior-designer vendor, this free-standing 1920s cottage at 23 Leonard Street has just the right accommodation for a young family.

There’s also a studio and Northcote’s biggest back garden, being one of a handful of properties backing on to a hidden park where the neighbours get together for barbecues and kick-to-kick.

Prahran

There’s a hint of its mid-century origins in the industrial-style foyer of 10 Moss Street, but it’s been repackaged and magnificently out-fitted to become a classy contemporary inner-city abode.

Its bedrooms, one with en suite and courtyard, are on the ground floor along with laundry and secure right-of-way carport.

The living/dining/kitchen area upstairs opens to a private deck with neighbourhood views.

Kay & Burton South Yarra’s Claire Endersbee will sell the property.
