The big blue ocean here isn’t the only jaw-dropping spectacle, as a sparkling new multimillion-dollar deal signals a surge in Queensland’s luxury tropical market.
A trophy home priced to have set a new Whitsundays record has transacted and settled. The $15 million price hope during the campaign for 37 The Beacons, Airlie Beach, was at a level to break the Whitsundays record.
The price is undisclosed, as is typical for high-end transactions. However, prestige whispers are the waterfront beauty, sold by Queensland Sotheby’s International Real Estate, could now be considered the Whitsundays’ record-breaking home.
It leapfrogs the previous price benchmark set by an Airlie Beach mansion where Taylor Swift is understood to have bunkered down, in style, for three nights in 2018.
In this stunning part of northern Queensland, prestige properties are as hot as a skin prickled by the Whitsundays sun, and one beauty is under offer following a campaign priced to break a record.
The Airlie Beach villa was marketed by Queensland Sotheby’s International Real Estate’s Wayne Singleton and Lynn Milsom.
If it achieved the asking price, it is most expensive house sold in glorious Airlie Beach and dwarfs a string of other high-end deals in one of Australia’s most fortified property markets.
The listing sets the scene of an unforgettable property by turquoise water.
“Villa De La Mer is positioned in one of the most superior locations on the Eastern Seaboard, adorned with absolute beachfront views with your own private and exclusive 30-metre multi-hull marina berth,” it says.
The house have a ground-floor, fully-contained apartment, soaring atrium entry, Italian-made lift, wine cellar, bar, rumpus room and sand-edge pool with glamorous pavilions and a sun to look over the horizon.
It was priced to leap over Mandalay House, the record-holding $14 million mansion, also in Airlie Beach, which sold in 2017 and became a $20,000-a-night rental.
Mandalay House, a Mediterranean-style trophy estate with a private helipad, marina, two-jet-ski docks and a boat shed, came back on the market in 2021, as reported by The Sydney Morning Herald.
Taylor Swift reportedly paid $100,000 to stay at the Whitsundays treasure.
