An e-scooter charger’s dream property has come on the market in Middlesex, England.

The five-bedroom “family haven” has an estimated 320 power sockets, but neither the real estate agents or owner know why.

The £1.3 million ($2.42 million) listing does not mention the huge number of scattered power points and downlights, simply stating the house has “an array of modern inclusions”, but they’re unmissable in the photos.

Tweeting a link to the listing, screenwriter Toby Davies said: “Thinking about buying this house, but I’m not sure it has enough plug sockets.”

It was retweeted over two thousand times, prompting hundreds of curious comments and plenty of speculation about the home’s original design.

“This is what happens when a qualified sparky makes a weed factory,” replied @AFaceForRadio to Davies’ tweet.

Other suggestions included a training facility for electricians, a base for the CIA, and husbands accommodating for their wives’ hair straighteners and other tech charging.

“The phone has been ringing off the hook for this one,” said Joe Prosser of Andrew Pearce Property Consultants. “We have been inundated with enquiries from both genuine buyers and inquisitive members of the public asking why so many sockets.

“Our client purchased the house in 2014 in its current form and commented that when furniture is put in place, the sockets are less visible.”

The detached home promises a family-friendly location, bright spaces and a conservatory leading to a patio area and spacious garden. But all most online commenters are interested in is the power points.

“Not nearly enough plug sockets in the bathroom or the garden!” tweeted @mightytonka.

One person replied that you don’t need to make cheese toasties in the kitchen, when you can make them in the lounge.

The previous owner told The Sun the power sockets were, “very handy”.

“I need to know why,” replied comedian Katherine Ryan to Davies’ tweet. “We all need to know why,” said Davies.

Prosser said it’s not a requirement for UK agents to list fixtures and fittings in a property description and that “despite some of the negative comments, the property is currently going through negotiations and we are anticipating a sale will be agreed shortly”.
