Meanwhile, Canberra remains the country’s most expensive city to rent a house at the median rate of $690-per-week, according to Domain’s Rent Report for the December 2022 quarter.

The figure was slightly lower at $680-per-week in the September 2022 quarter and $670-per-week for the December 2021 quarter.

While Canberra is the most expensive city to rent a house, Sydney has taken the crown for being the most expensive city to rent a unit at $575-per-week. Canberra’s median asking rent for a unit is $560-per-week.
