A stunning Brighton mansion owned by the Zagame restaurant family has sold after being listed with a price guide of $25 million to $27.5 million.

The contemporary five-bedroom home at 27-29 Kent Avenue was marked as sold online, and a sale at that level would top the residential property price record for the suburb. The residence sold within its advertised price range, said one source with knowledge of the deal but not authorised to comment publicly.

In the exclusive bayside suburb, the next-highest sale was the $22 million paid for a beachfront house in 2015 by 7-Eleven magnate Beverley Barlow, who has since passed away.

JP Dixon listing agent Jonathan Dixon confirmed the sale when contacted, but would not be drawn on details of the buyer or exact price paid.

He said only that the market in Brighton had been incredibly busy as people stayed at home during the coronavirus pandemic. “From what I gather from other agents too, I don’t think we’ve ever had a busier time,” Mr Dixon said.

Public records show the seller is Antoinette Zagame but offer no indication yet of the buyer. Her late husband, Victor Zagame, founded the Zagame’s hotels and hospitality empire.

The beachfront home is an entertainer’s delight, with three levels of al fresco spaces including a rooftop deck, a pool and an outdoor entertaining space with a secondary kitchen and gas fire.

Inside, there’s a state-of-the-art kitchen, marble floors, room for two home offices, a home automation system and elevator access.
